CableCares ‘08 – New Orleans, LA
On behalf of the National Cable and Telecommunications Association (NCTA), spearhead all logistics pertaining to CableCares; a large-scale, cable industry community service project designed to assist in the recovery efforts of the New Orleans area, post Hurricane Katrina.
Booth Highlight
• Raised more than 900K in cash, equipment and in-kind donations towards the cause. • Coordinated over 900 volunteers who were activated citywide to donate their time over two days, including 5 press conferences involving cable industry CEO’s, school superintendent and city politicians. • Two, large-scale playgrounds were designed and built at separate elementary schools. • One high school received a much needed landscaping and beautification upgrade. • One school received flat screen monitors and HD DVR’s in every room. • Another school received computers in just about every room. • Over 20K new books were donated to the schools via book and fund drive efforts. • Three tractor-trailer loads of food, school supplies and musical instruments were donated to the community and schools. • Over 150 meals were prepared and served at a local shelter. • 10k worth of athletic equipment was donated to four schools. • Coordinated a private concert by the Naked Brothers Band to a private group of local school children.
